We are a small, family owned and operated cannabis cultivation company in Sturgeon Lake, MN. We grow exclusively using aquaponics (hence our name, AquaPOTic). We are a licenced microbusiness with the MN OCM.
Aquapotic is a small, craft cannabis business with a simple goal: grow cannabis responsibly while minimizing our impact on the environment. While we strive to succeed, we prioritize principles over profits. Environmental stewardship is at the core of everything we do, to benefit our local community, our lovely home state of Minnesota, and the world as a whole.
With our tree-hugging principles in mind, we chose to grow using aquaponics rather than soil or hydroponic methods. It's not the easiest, but it's the cleanest and most responsible way we know how.
We are currently a two-man operation (three, if you count Flipper the dog). We're co-owners, husbands, cat and dog dads, nature lovers, and full-time nerds. Together we run every aspect of our business, from caring for the fish to trimming the plants.

from 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands
After meeting during an exchange year in the Netherlands, Siebe and Aaron spent 5 years on opposite sides of the Atlantic pursuing education and, careers. After a long wait and loads of paperwork, they were able to reunite and marry in Minnesota, where they now live and work together.
Despite growing up in different parts of the world, they share many of the same values. Both were raised in families that emphasized curiosity, hands-on learning, and respect for the natural environment. From a young age, Siebe developed a fascination with aquatic ecosystems, plants, and animal care. Aaron gravitated toward building and experimentation, taking things apart to understand how they worked and developing a strong interest in sustainability and environmental systems.
Over time, their shared interests naturally converged. Aaron’s passion for sustainable systems and engineering, combined with Siebe’s deep knowledge of aquatic and plant care, led them to explore aquaponics as a way to grow plants efficiently and responsibly. What began as curiosity evolved into a dedicated pursuit.
Today, Aaron and Siebe operate their small cultivation business in northern Minnesota, where they focus on producing high-quality cannabis using aquaponic methods. Their work reflects their shared commitment to sustainability, careful craftsmanship, and continuous learning.
